I guess it’s not surprising that most people don’t know about this. The series ran for awhile after its original audience had, let’s say, grown out of the series, but it is certainly frustrating. This is without a doubt the best Cartoon Network original movie since Ego Trip. It’s a feature length Ed, Edd n Eddy adventure, it’s a road movie, it’s the finale to the series. It’s got a pretty big scale for just a pay cable, made for TV movie based on a cartoon about three kids who hardly ever leave their block.

A Toast

I want to talk about what a trip down memory lane something like this can be. If you loved, or even occasionally caught, the TV series, you may have an inkling as to why this movie makes me so excited. I genuinely adore the TV series, the episodes I grew up watching anyway, and this made-for-TV movie was really well done and a fun finale to the series.

The original fans of this series more than likely stopped watching when they started doing episodes involving the Eds at school and more “around town” instead of being restrained by the setting of the cul-de-sac. With the Big Picture Show, seeing as how it’s a finale to the series, it begins in the trademark setting of the series. Obviously, seeing how it’s a movie and a feature length story, they have to enter new territory and it is done seamlessly and with very little distraction. There are even subtle changes made to the style of drawing and animation, which had undergone minor changes throughout the course of the series, to create a more faithful look.

Beer Two

They finally reveal Eddy’s older brother in this. For those of you that don’t know, Eddy’s older brother is referred to a lot by Eddy throughout the series… but never seen. Until now. I guess they figured the series finale would be a good place to finally reveal this character and it is… but they also in this movie finally have Edd’s hat come off…  and they never actually show his head while he has his hat off. This… deserves a beer unto itself. Don’t be a tease, team behind Ed, Edd n Eddy’s Big Picture Show… Don’t be a tease…

  1. I LOVED this show as a kid. And not to be a nit picky nerd (yes I am), there were a few instances where they took off Double D’s (hehe) hat and not showed his face. But I agree, this would have been the best time to show it.
