Alien Country – Like My Life Depends On It (2018) Album Review

By: Rob Perez –

Whatever your overall opinion is of Alien Country’s Like My Life Depends On It, it certainly goes down as one of the more unusual releases of 2018. Combining a mix of genres, especially genres that some might say have no business being near each other, Like My Life Depends On It draws inspiration from the metal world to the country world with a spacey vibe that we recommend you hear to believe.

And if you thought the combo above couldn’t work, Alien Country make it work. Seriously produced by real musicians, the album doesn’t take itself seriously. For most of the album’s length, Like My Life Depends On It focuses on having a good time with these feel good lyrics, with a bit of snarkiness in this nostalgic/Americana-sounding album.

“No One”, “Tell Me So”, and “Reality Check” are among the standout tracks on this 13 track sci-fi inspired album. But really, many of the tracks on Like My Life Depends On It really are out of this world, pun intended. It’s far from sophisticated, but the album is not meant for “sophisticated” music lovers, just those that appreciate good music without pretentiousness.

Verdict

We’re giving this three beers, only because you may appreciate it more being a little buzzed.
