Another long work week equates to a short movie one, but I caught one wide release and a couple more I’ve been meaning to get around to.
61. Paddington 2
While somewhat curious in the outright passion it inspired (the top-rated film on Rotten Tomatoes, ever, for a bit), I can certainly see why no critic had an overall negative opinion on it. Pleasant to an extreme degree, often amusing, and very well designed and delivered, who can say no? Two Beers.
62. Happy Death Day
This teen slasher by way of Groundhog Day is a lot more fun than studio horror for the young people often is. Not the most complex confection out there, but damn entertaining while it lasts. Two Beers.
63. Borg vs. McEnroe
Borg vs. McEnroe is a well-produced, well-acted psychological drama of two of tennis’s most legendary figures, but over-focused on that story to the detriment of the film as a whole. Perhaps it should have been a bit more McEnroe than Borg. Three Beers.
