We mentioned awhile back that a female version of The Expendables was in the works… and now there are two. The first project already has Gina Carano (Haywire) and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) on board and apparently is shooting for a bit lower age bracket than Stallone’s band of geriatrics. The second has hired writers first… the duo behind Legally Blonde. The title will be The Expendabelles.
Friedberg & Seltzer (Disaster Movie) await by their phone anxiously
Ben Affleck’s looking for a project to shoot while his Whitey Bulger epic comes together, and since the last Dennis Lehane novel he adapted treated him pretty well, why not return to that well? Live by Night is set well before Gone Baby Gone, following a cop’s kid in the 50s who is drawn into organized crime and finds himself swept from his home of Boston to Florida to Cuba. Casey is currently trying to convince his bro that he can rock a fedora.
See!
Whatever you say about the state of Kevin Kline’s career these days, we all can at least agree that he can sport a dashing moustache. So, who better to portray an aging Errol Flynn? The Last Robin Hood comes with some interesting cred from directors Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland, who’s debut was the acclaimed indie Quinceanera. This flick will also place a young girl in a bizarre adult situation, telling of Flynn’s relationship with the 17 year old daughter of a washed-up actress, who’ll be played by Susan Sarandon. Both were featured in Flynn’s last movie- Cuban Rebel Girls.
Like Dujardin’s self-directed flick from The Artist, with a hint of pedofilia
