It’s not a terribly good sign when even I know fuck all about 75% of this week’s new releases.  Translation: go watch Cloud Atlas, people.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D -

I’m one of the few that didn’t hate the first Silent Hill movie, but then again I never played the game.  Still, a sequel seven years later, in 3D no less, doesn’t seem incredibly necessary.  Also, Sean Bean’s in it, so I already have one plot twist figured out.

He’s immortal. That’s it.

Beer Prediction

I just don’t see any way this recipe comes out tasting good.

Fun Size -

The one thing I’ve heard about this compares it to a female-driven Superbad.  There’s certainly nothing wrong with that, but a few seconds into the trailer I already have to scoff at Jane Levy and Victoria Justice being cast as anything resembling social outsiders.

This was a bit easier to believe

It’s been awhile since we’ve had a solid comedy out, but I barely cracked a smile during the trailer.  Maybe they saved the best stuff for the flick?

Cloud Atlas -

Tom Twyker and the Wachowski… siblings, I guess, tackle an “unfilmable” novel and by all early accounts at very least deliver something hugely ambitious and incredibly cinematic.

On the other hand, this.

This will probably be solid “love it or hate it” material, but I’ve walking in expecting to be in the former group.

Chasing Mavericks -

Gerard Butler’s in this? Second question: what the hell is this?  Oh, an inspirational surfer flick.  Seems like a no-brainer October release.

Looks a little schmaltztastic, but the one thing I’ve been able to dig up about this is that surf nuts are raving about the footage the filmmakers captured of some truly “gnarly” waves.  I believe I said that right.  Gnarly.
