The Weekend Pregame: The Cold Light of Day (2012), The Words (2012).
Trailer Reviews
If these trailers were suppose to convince me to go to the movies, they got me all wrong. I couldn’t imagine seeing any of these movies without feeling at least a little buzzed.
The Cold Light of Day, 93 Minutes, Action / Thriller, Rated PG-13
So a young man is vacationing with his mom and dad in the Mediterranean (I’m guessing) and after coming up from snorkeling he discovers his family is missing. As he begins his quest to find them he discovers that things are more complicated than he thought — his father, Bruce Willis, is in the CIA. The premise is so lame and lazy I couldn’t possibly recommend this movie with less than 5 beers. The only saving grace is that this movie is 93 minutes long, a sign that it has been edited to a point that they only hope the action scenes alone could make it worth recommending. Pre-game 4 beers and enjoy with 1 with this flick.
Have 5 beers with The Cold Light of Day (2012).

The Words, 96 min, Drama / Romance, Rated PG-13
The movie appears to be about a man who plagiarizes an other man’s work. I think it’s safe to assume the creepy old man at the park bench speaking with Bradley Cooper is the victim. The cast for this movie looks pretty solid (Olivia Wilde, Dennis Quaid, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper). What really threw me off was the musical montage at the end cutting between different acts and dropping in bits of cheesy wisdom. This doesn’t look like a movie I’d recommend being sober for. Pre-game two beers and enjoy 1 during the movie. A light buzz should make this movie a more pleasurable experience.
Have 3 beers with The Words (2012).

This is the worst movie of the past decade. I would have been upset to watch this on TV for free and waste 2 hours of my life. Let me save you time. It’s not anything, not a comedy, not a drama, not action, not anything. The story isn’t even captivating. It’s a narration within another narration. It’s awful. I wanted to through tomatoes at the screen it was so bad.
Good to know! I’ll have a few beers handy when I make time to see it (I’m assuming The Cold Light of Day.)
