David Fincher has that Ridley Scott-ish habit of attaching himself to a wide variety of projects, most of which fall through or move on. One of the rumors I could never quite see him fitting with was the Cleopatra epic starring Angelina Jolie. Well, it looks like he’ll be on to something else, as he’s off the project, with the slightly more logical Ang Lee being courted to replace him. The good news is that maybe he’ll be able to return to the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series after all, or perhaps resurrect that Captain Nemo flick from way back when.
Or that gritty Teddy Ruxpin revenge flick that I seem to remember hearing about
Continuing in news about artists I really, really like, OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODRYANGOSLINGISDIRECTINGAMOVIE. Ok, give me a second for these hot flashes to subside. Yep, that’s right, Gosling is both writing and directing a “modern-day fairy tale” starring Christina Hendricks, How to Catch a Monster. The flick will tell the story in which a mother and son in a crumbling futuristic city get trapped in a secret underwater town. No word yet on whether Gosling will also grace the screen with his presence, but any good director would recognize how much better that’d make the film, and I think we all can agree that he’ll almost certainly be a good director.
Further evidence of perfection
Speaking of exciting things, I’ve already geeked out about the Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin) directed, Natalie Portman-starring Western Jane Got a Gun, but I figured I’d touch on it again now that Portman’s ex-lover who helps defend her home against her husband’s former outlaw crew has been cast. Who is that intriguing actor, you ask? OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODITSMICHAELFASSBENDER.
I think I need to go lie down
